Did Adam And Eve Have Belly-Buttons?
This is a paradoxical question that first came to my mind, when I was still in high school. Did Adam and Eve have belly-buttons?
Now, before I begin this discussion, let me point out again that I am not a Christian, I do not believe that all humanity started from two people, nor am I trying to prove Christianity wrong. I am only proposing thoughts to help others open their minds to the easily difficult questions to answer.
Now, if in fact Adam and Eve had belly-buttons, then, that would imply that they were born from a mother who had been impregnated by a father. If you know anything about the human organism, then you know that we only have belly-buttons because we are connected to our mothers by an umbilical cord which is separated from us and her at birth. So, to say that, yes, they did, proves that part of the book of genesis is wrong in saying that Adam and Eve were the first two humans to walk the Earth.
Now, on the other hand, say that they did not have belly-buttons. Well, that is all well and good. The Christian bible is correct, everyone can go on with their merry lives. However, if they did not have belly-buttons, then how is it that every human being after them did? Why is the belly-button placed in the same place on everyone? If there was no template to begin with, has everyone since the original two had their belly-buttons in the same place, or were we all different to begin with, only to evolve until we were all the same?
In closing this section, it is questions like these that we as humans need to keep our wheels turning for upstairs. Without these questions, we would always conform to the ideas of others instead of creating our own ideas.
