Ripples of Thought

Okay, first off, I want to say that this poem has already been published by Poetry.com,
however, its one of my favorites, be advised, it is a work of fiction...

Better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all
My heart in flames
A fireball.
I loved her with my heart and soul
Never knowing what to behold
I asked her for her hand in marriage
Through the park we rode our carriage
All those days when life was good
Way back in that neighborhood.

Back in the day
When I found pleasure
Back in the place
Where I could leisure.
I wish
I could go back to that place
That special place
Where I first saw her face.

I don't know how
It came to this
I don't know how
My life, I could miss.
All that time we spent together
Never letting go of each other.

But now those days
Have gone away
I wish I could go back
To the day
When life was good
That special way.

I want her to know
That I still love her so
I want her to know
That I'll never let go.
